CSV Files

If you open the CSV Report in a spreadsheet program such as Excel, certain columns that Excel perceives as a date column may be automatically converted into a date. If you look at the CSV file in Notepad or another text editor, you will see the kinds of columns that get converted by Excel (like the Ports/Pins/Lens column) are not formatted as a date. The data is being changed by Excel. The reason for this is if you open the CSV file directly from the browser into Excel, Excel will automatically format the columns the way it thinks you want to see them.

Steps to Remedy:

  1. To avoid confusion PCR recommends to first download the file.

  2. Open Excel and click the “Data” tab on the Ribbon.

  3. Click “From Text” to open up the file browser and select your CSV file you downloaded.

  4. Select “Delimited” and click “Next”.

  5. Select “Comma” on the next page and click “Next”.

  6. Finally, make sure the Port/Pin/Len column is highlighted and choose “Text”, then click “Finish”.

This should remove the formatting and open the spreadsheet correctly.
